The moral of Guy de Maupassant’s story “The Necklace” is to be happy with what you have in life and to never ask a lot because the earth or peoples cannot fulfill your every need. In the book there was a line that said, “What would have happen if Mathilde had not lost the necklace?” If Mathide had not lost the necklace or even asked to borrow the necklace, she and Mr. Loisel would not have been in debt ten long years. Because Motile had to borrow the necklace to make her and others like her better her and Mr. Loisel’s economic situation had become worse than it already was. I think that the moral also has to do with telling the truth if Mathide just told her friend she lost the necklace in the first place then her husband and she wouldn’t be in the situation. Even the necklace was only 25 bucks her friend would understand because that’s what friend do, her friend is also rich to so she can buy a new one when every.
